This is a September 1962 (makes it a 63 model) built notchback in birchgreen color.
8 Years ago a customer bought a project car and started immediately to restore it. But during dismantling of the car he noticed it was in extremely bad condition... It would need the whole range of sheet metal. But there wasnt any good sheetmetal available at that time...
So he decided to buy a rustfree pan and a nearly rustfree body (sandblasted already) at T3HQ to built the car he dreamed of. But he did'nt wants a purists car - he built it for himself!
The only area to weld at the body was at the rocker ends (usual area). The rare mickey mouse front apron was still in place! The pan needed zero welding! The decision to buy this body and chassis was a booster to build this car in a short period of time! He has done as much work as possible by himself and painted it in birchgreen (OG type3 color from 61 to 64) - we dont know what the original color was.
He prepped the engine bay to use the twin carbed 54hp enging who's left from the former project and did the paint prepping as well. He choosed birch green L511.
Once the body went back to the chassis, he made a carpet and istalled a bamboo parcel shelf.
A Blaupunkt picnic radio (you can remove it from the car easily and it works outside the car) and a period Blaupunkt speaker in front of the rear window.
He found a ORIS tow bar and fixed it to the car.
BOSCH fog light with yellow lenses went to the car as well as a pair of BOSCH horns.
He liked the early big 1500 script and the slightly bigger rare front VW badge.
The pushbutton switch is still working, below is a separate panel with a hazard light switch, a switch for the extra horns and a electric washer fluid pump (a squared original bottle comes with the car). The red dot button for the heater cable came from a beetle.
Red needle instruments in working order - blue dot / ivory knos for vent and a uncracked ashtray handle. Glove box cardboard is nice!
The wrap around dashboard is nice but has onerepaired crack in front of the clock - speaker grille is nice!
The passenger seat has a HULS recliner and a seat rail extension installed at the floor pan.
Seat belts are 2-point and KLIPPAN brand.
Armrests are black and has seen better days but they're not total crap as you can see.
The salt and pepper interior is still there bus has seen better day's. I have the cloth for this car here and can be bought for extra 600€. NO SEPARATE SALE of it!!!! No, definately not!
The jack is still in place, there is a cardboard cover in the front trunk but it's not in good condition and it's not shown in the pictures. The rear trunk mat is very nice, even as the padding underneeth.
Chrome is'nt perfect, has some spot's here and there.
Flat euro rear lenses and HELLA reflectors.
The notchback has the super early slanted body trims and year correct type 3 hub caps!!!
Because he could'nt find the fat window trims he installed the windshield seal and rear window seals from the fromer project - BUT I HAVE FAT TRIMS and seals for them in stock for this car and can be bought for extra €. Goes with this car only, no separate sale!
Battery tray is super solid! Original jack points as well!
This is a nice daily driven car and not a show car! BUT it has a lot potential becaus of the state of body and chassis! The paintwork shows some kind of waves at the sides, one paint nose at the passenger side c pillar. Gaps could be nicer. Electrics in working order but wiring could be done nicer.
It's a very solid car in working order - built at a budget but do what it's bulit for and attracts people wharever you go. The color makes it an eye catcher, the crowd often smiles and waving hands.
